Deputy Jody Elmore is the Sheriff’s Department’s Employee of the Month for November. He has been with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Department almost three years. He attended the Jefferson County Reserve Class 26 Academy. Deputy Elmore is originally from Forkland, Alabama, but he has resided in Ethelsville for the last ten years and calls Pickens County home.
Deputy Elmore begins his day at 5:30 a.m. He works day shift at Steel Dynamics in Columbus, Mississippi. He goes home after work,  gets a shower around 4:30 p.m., and then goes to work on the night shift for the Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Elmore works three or four days a week as a road deputy for the Sheriff’s Department.
When asked what he thinks about being named Employee of the Month, Deputy Elmore replied, “It’s an honor, especially being a part time employee. It’s really an honor.”
After talking with Deputy Elmore, anyone can tell he really enjoys his work at the Sheriff’s Department.
“I like the excitement of the job because one minute you may be on the side of the road helping somebody that is stranded who needs gas, and the next minute you are chasing a drug dealer with guns across the county,” said Deputy Elmore. “It changes so quick from one minute to the next. I enjoy serving Pickens County.”
