Lucille Elmore Blakeney, 99, of Gordo, died June 10, 2018 at home. Services were held June 13, 2018 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Pat Powell officiating. Burial was at Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Blakeney; her parents; brothers, Marvin O. Elmore, Grady L. Elmore, Clifton Elmore, and Benjamin F. Elmore, Jr.; sister, Nancy Ann Elmore, and infant sister, Elsie Elmore.
Survivors include her daughter Charlotte B. Shirley and husband, Richard; son, Larry C. Blakeney and wife, Janice; grandchildren, Kevin Shirley (Sharon), Ryan Shirley (Jennifer), Kelley Argenti (Allen), Tiffany Rash (Jason), and Julie Ivory (Adam); great-grandchildren, Tucker Shirley, Sydnee Shirley, Landyn Shirley, Dylan Shirley, Taylor Shirley, Grayson Shirley, Caroline Argenti, Joseph Argenti, Megan Ivory, Luke Ivory, Madeline Rash, and Danielle Rash.
Mrs. Blakeney was born February 11, 1919 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Benjamin F. Elmore, Sr. and Icie Junkin Elmore. She was the oldest living member of Gordo First Baptist Church. Lucille was a retired city clerk for the Town of Gordo with 25 years of service and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers were Kevin Shirley, Ryan Shirley, Tucker Shirley, Frank Elmore, Harold Moss, and Clint Moss.
Honorary pallbearers were Betty Shirley, Patricia Howard, Alice Parker, Angela Johnson, Tom and Doris Rogers, Holli Moss, Lisa Tant, Amedisys Hospice, and Amedisys Home Health.
