Leader’s Luncheon Ushers in Opening Celebration At Career Center

Invited guests gather for lunch and presentations from community leaders before the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Pickens County College and Career Center.

In prelude to the ribbon cutting of the much-awaited Pickens County College and Career Center in Carrollton, a Community Conversation Luncheon was held for over one hundred invited guests and dignitaries.

Commissioners Award PALS Poster Winners

The winning poster for the 4-6 grade category was created by Carly More of Pickens Academy. Miss More and her teacher, Mrs. Sara Cracker, were both on a field trip in Washington D.C. at the time of the award presentations.

At the Pickens County Commissioner’s Meeting on April 24, County Administrator Cheryl Bowles announced the winners of the 2018 People Against a Littered State (PALS) Poster Contest.

PCMC One of Nine Hospitals in U.S. to Receive Grant

On behalf of the Health Resources Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), and Delta Regional Authority (DRA), The National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center) is excited to announce Pickens County Hospital has been selected to participate in the Delta Regional Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program.

Through the DRCHSD Program, the DRA and FORHP have partnered to support nine rural communities with an opportunity to receive intensive technical assistance (TA).

R.J. Kirksey Class Holds 50th Reunion

On April 5 thirty members of the R.J. Kirksey High School, Class of 1968 met in Aliceville to celebrate their 50th Class Reunion.  The event was held at, and catered by, Judi’s Café (formerly Savory Solutions II).

The formal reunion program featured presentations by classmates on the history of the school, a memorial tribute, reflections on the life journeys and noteworthy experiences of the participants, singing of the alma mater, and communal fellowship. It was a heartfelt and humbling experience.
