CARROLLTON- The Pickens County Board of Commissioners meeting took place on July 12, 2022. Chairman Jerry Fitch called the meeting to order.

The meeting opened with a public comment from Edgar Calloway concerning the Pickens County Ambulance Service.

Aliceville Council woman Ball speaks to Boys and Girls Club

CITY OF ALICEVILLE COUNCILWOMAN/PASTOR TALYA BALL SPEAKS TO BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB--Councilwoman Ball came to speak to the Aliceville Boys and Girls Club. During her time with the youth, she helped them to desgin a t-shirt.

Mr. Hugh L. Spencer Jr. serves as the Unit Director. Youth Professionals are Mrs. Linda Gosa, Ms. Myah Shamery, Mr. Nick Degraffereid, and Education Advisor Ms. Brittany Spencer.

REFORM- On July 5, 2022, the Reform City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Melody Davis. Councilmember Malcolm Giles was not in attendance.

The council approved of the minutes as well as the payables.

ALICEVILLE-The Aliceville City Council meeting was called to order on June 29, 2022 by Mayor Terrence Windham. Council member Gilliam was not present at the meeting.

After the invocation was given, the council approved of last meeting’s minutes. There was no unfinished business causing the agenda to move into new business.

Constance Davis opens another business in town of Gordo

GORDO- Another business grace the town of Gordo. Constance Davis a native of Gordo and the owner of J&K’s Body Jewelry and more and WCW Staffing company is opening up a tanning salon, Sarah’s Solstice. Sarah’s Solstice will be dedicated to the memory of her Grandmother Sarah Frances Wells who departed this world in September 2021. Constance has successfully started and maintained her separate businesses in her home- town. J&K’s Body Jewelry and more is a jewelry, clothing and novelty based business.

CARROLLTON- The Pickens County Board of Commissioners meeting took place on June 28, 2022. The meeting was called to order by acting Chairman Mark Gray.

The meeting began with public comments as County Administrator Cheryl Bowles introduced Glenda Adcock to speak on matters concerning David Abston.

“I’m Glenda Adcock from Reform Alabama. I understand there seems to be a problem with you not wanting to give David Abston his retirement. Could you explain to me why?” Said Adcock.

City of Aliceville celebrates 1st Annual Juneteenth celebration

ALICEVILLE-The City of Aliceville celebrated their first annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 18, 2022 with at least 200 participants. A guest also had to be picked up from the airport in Aliceville to join in the festivities.

Food was surrounded by home southern cuisines along with great music given by the Debbie Bond Band, Radiator Rick, several gospel groups and Aliceville Crusaders.

Reform Council adds discussion of the sewer systems to agenda for next meeting

REFORM- On June 21, 2022, the Reform City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Melody Davis. The council approved of the minutes as well as the payables. In old business, the resolution from June 7, 2022, of the one-time lump sum payment to eligible retirees was tabled by the council for the next appointed meeting. There was no new business or public comments, and the meeting moved on to reports from councilmembers.
