The Aliceville New Era Arts Club held its first meeting of the 2018-2019 season October 1 in the Aliceville Civic Center.
President Tricia McBride called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Jean Lewis gave the Prayer for the Nation.
New members were welcomed to the club. The Yearbook was presented by Johnie McKinzey. The club theme for this year is “Be Informed.”
The program was entitled “Issues Facing Voters.” It was given by Martha Stokes of Carrollton, Ala. Stokes serves as Vice President of the Pickens County Republican Executive Committee and as a member of the Alabama State Republican Executive Committee. She gave very interesting & informative information.
The business of the club was transacted. There was discussion about two upcoming events in our community: The New Era Arts Club Sale/Fundraiser will be held during the Aliceville Fall Street Fair, Saturday, October 20, in the former S’Lady building. On Monday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. The Actor’s Charitable Theater will present “Of Mice & Men.” Performances will be held at the Aliceville Theater. Tickets are $8 and may be ordered by calling (205) 393-2800.
