Mike and LuAnn Acker of Carrollton are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hannah Leigh Acker, to Charles Joseph “CJ” Whitney, son of Jeffrey and Lea Whitney of Georgetown, Delaware.
Hannah is the granddaughter of Margaret Acker and the late William “Billy” Acker of Carrollton, and the late Bobby and Mary Lee Noland of Aliceville. Hannah graduated high school from Pickens Academy, and attended The University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, and later Samford University, where she earned a Master of Science Degree in Nursing. She is currently employed by Relias Healthcare as a Nurse Practitioner.
CJ is the grandson of Virginia Bean of Dover, Delaware, Tom Whitney of Phoenix, Arizona, the late Jack Kloster of Evansdale, Iowa, and the late Joyce Kloster of Cedar Falls, Iowa. CJ graduated high school from Lake Forest High School in Felton, Delaware, and joined The United States Army in 2006. He attended The US Army Aviation Center of Excellence in Fort Rucker, Alabama, and is currently employed by The US Army as a UH-60 Instructor Pilot. Chief Warrant Officer Three Whitney has served two deployments: to Kuwait in 2013, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and to Jordan and Syria in 2017, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield. He received The Air Medal in August 2018 for exceptional meritorious wartime service as an Aeromedical Evacuation Pilot and Instructor Pilot in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Spartan Shield.
The couple met in 2012, when CJ was in Alabama for flight training, and Hannah was attending nursing school.
A riverside wedding ceremony will be held in Tuscaloosa on the afternoon of November 17, 2018 with reception to follow. The couple will reside in Tuscaloosa … for now.
