Word has it on the streets, the Mayor of Carrollton, Mickey Walker, has guaranteed snow in Carrollton the night of the Christmas tree lighting. The tree has been selected and, when the star is added to the top, the tree is projected to hit 40 feet tall. The Courthouse Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held December 3. The town’s Christmas parade, is being held December 13 at 6 p.m. From that point until Christmas night, from approximately 5 p.m. to approximately 7 p.m., there is a guaranteed snowfall. That is, if it doesn’t rain. Rain will keep the snow at bay. However, for the Christmas season, clear skies will bring snow.
The theme this year for the Carrollton Christmas Parade will be “Joys of Christmas.” There is no charge for entry into the parade and entry forms and release from liability forms are available at Carrollton branches of First National Bank of Central Alabama, West Alabama Bank and Trust, Carrollton City Hall, and Court Square Coffee shop. Bands, floats, decorated automobiles, and walking groups are all welcome. Awards are given to those best representing the Christmas spirit.
Santa will be making a special appearance in the Courthouse from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please bring your cellphone or camera as there is no charge for photos, but there will not be an official photographer on site.
