House District 61 Representative Rodney Sullivan presented a proclamation to three law enforcement officers for their role in saving a man from a burning house in early March. The story was printed in the March 13, 2019 issue of the Pickens County Herald. Several law enforcement officers, along with the District Attorney’s office, were at the Aliceville City Hall for a training event when they were called to a house fire. There was a man trapped inside the house and Deputy Jonathan Gann, Deputy Jeremy Heard, and Jordan Powell, an assistant in the DA’s office, arrived on the scene to rescue the man.
“We have good officers and good law enforcement and not every DA can say that,” Hamlin said. “The public needs to know that these officers care and they’re servants. Public safety is important to them. I work with them on a daily basis and it’s not my job to vouch for their character, but I can tell you that’s true.”
