Mr. Robert M. “Bob” Cummins, born in Reform, AL and longtime resident of Spanish Fort, AL passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born March 29, 1940 to Howard Manley Cummins and Leslie Taylor Cummins.
Bob joined the US Army in 1963. While there, he went to Officer Candidates School in Fort Benning, GA. He spent three years with the 4th infantry division at Fort Lewis, Washington as a platoon leader and company commander. He was released from active duty in 1966 and joined the Active Reserves with the 121st Army Command unit in Birmingham, AL in May of 1973, he was released from Active Reserve as Captain of Infantry. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a Batchelor of Science. Afterwords he went on to enroll in the Birmingham School of Law, Juris Doctorate. He enjoyed boating, NASCAR, and football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Bob was a friend to all. He served people in need, like Robert and Willie and many others as well as many community programs. He was a longtime member of Faith Family Fellowship where he was a member of his Bible study class for over 25 years. He also served in the ministry for the Daphne City Jail and the Eastern Shore Rehab and was a member of the YMCA. Bob was an agent with State Farm insurance for over fifty-five years. Bob will always be remembered for loving his family, his friends and everybody he bumped into. Preceding him in death are his parents, and his brothers, Leslie and Emmet Langdon.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Anna Lou Cummins; his children he shared with Sadie Jean Cummins, Christopher Manley Cummins, Cathy Michelle Corsentino, Chandler Michael Cummins, and his stepchildren he shared with Anna, Jason Holland, and Jodee Crites. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Louise, Miriam, and Savannah Cummins, Courtney and Kailey Holland and Will Crites. Nieces and nephews, Martha and Mary Les Langdon, Lisa Langdon, Emmet Jr., “Brother” and Jane Langdon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Family Fellowship in Spanish Fort, AL. The family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Graveside services with military honors followed at 1:00 p.m. at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.
