Dorothy Mae Harcrow

Dorothy Mae Harcrow, age 103, of Reform, AL passed away November 3, 2023 at her residence.  Funeral services were 12:00 noon Monday, November 6, 2023 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Trey Reece and Bro. Mark Dean officiating.  Burial was held in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Author Harcrow; her sons, James Edward Harcrow and Barney Ray Harcrow; her daughter, Ruby Gail Rollins; four grandchildren, Little Jim Ford, Quin Pate, Rita Leonard and Mitchell Wayne Britt; her parents; sisters, Bertha Perrigin, Adelle Reece and Mattie Bell Boone and brothers, Shirley Prescott, Jimmy Lee Prescott, Wheeler Prescott and Hollis Prescott.
Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Thornhill (Frank) of Perdido, FL, Norma Jean O’Kelley (Larry) of Reform, Roxanna Ross of Reform and Audrey Reece (Keith) of Carrollton; sons, Eddie Earl Harcrow (Dot) of Reform and Billy Wayne Harcrow (Tiffany) of Reform; daughter-in-law, Joyce Harcrow; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren.; special niece, Jenita Duncan and adopted son, Timothy Jackson.
Dorothy was born August 23, 1920 in Lamar County, Alabama to the late Charlie Wheeler Prescott and Cora Jane Shaw Prescott.  She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and also attended the Church of God in Reform. She was a retired seamstress and a homemaker.
Dorothy was known for the fierce love she had for her family. She always had her doors open and was ready to feed anyone who walked in, her home was a place of laughter, joy and the love of God.  She loved God and her faith brought her through many hardships and deaths.  She raised nine children and helped raise numerous grandchildren. She kept a snake skin belt on the back of her couch and was not afraid to use it.  She was a widow of 40 years, sent two sons to war and buried 3 children and 4 grandchildren.  She impacted a multitude of lives in her many years and will be forever loved and greatly missed.  There will be a void in our lives until we are reunited with her again, one day in heaven.
The family would like to say a special thank you to her daughter-in-law, Dot Harcrow for the exceptional love and care provided to her and also to her daughter, Roxanna Ross who took care of her.  To Encompass Hospice caregivers, Katelyn, Tammy, Sheila and others, we are grateful for the love and care you provided her.
Her grandsons served as Pallbearers.
