Commissioner Patti-Presley Fuller has been instrumental in getting a grant, which was used to purchase five defibrillators to be distributed in the county. A defibrillator is a medical device that sends an electric shock to the heart to correct life-threatening abnormal rhythms like ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Presley-Fuller was made aware of the need for these defibrillators when she had a couple of people in the community ask her if there was any way they could have a defibrillator to save people when they are in distress. She wrote a grant for $10,000.00, and that money paid for five of defibrillators. The grant came from Tombigbee RC&D and was sponsored by the Town of Carrollton. The five defibrillators are located in the Town of Pickensville, Town of Carrollton, Thrive Fitness, Sapps Community, and Beavertown/Hinton Place.
