Community Cleans Up Trash After Tornado

The Palmetto Community Center and the Volunteer Fire Department joined forces for a community-wide cleanup day, Mar. 24.

The Palmetto Community was hit hard by a tornado in August of 2017. The community is just now getting to the point of completing clean up and rebuilding. The community had a lot of timber damage which will take years for the area to get back to what it once looked like.

The Palmetto Community Center and Volunteer Fire Department hosted a community-wide cleanup day “Storm Together, Be the Change You Wish to See in Your Community,” on Mar. 24, 2018. The community pulled together and picked up trash on Highway 17, County Road 59, County Road 51, and County Road 3. We want to thank all volunteers and the UGMC ladies for the sack lunches and time given to make our community a cleaner place.
