Candidates Qualify for Municipal Elections in Each Town in Pickens County

The qualifying dead- line for Pickens County’s 2025 Munici- pal Elections has passed. The elections will be held August 26, 2025, for mayor and city council members in each town.

There will not be an election in Pickensville because no candidates are opposed.

In Carrollton, only the seat on the city council in District 4 will have a race. Briget Stanfill is running against incumbent Councilman Phillip Trull.

Gordo Council: City to enter partnership with Dixie Youth board

The Gordo City Council began their meeting on Monday, March 4th by listening to a proposal by Shawn McDaniel of the Gordo Dixie Youth board. The proposal asked the council to consider the board and city working together in a partnership to raise money to renovate the fields.

“What we’re asking is that if we raise $50,000, that the city, being a city park, and holding that responsibility, would the city park be willing to come that, to raise $50,000?”

Gordo City Council Talks Budget

With a new fiscal year approaching in October, the city of Gordo is gearing up to pass its budget for 2018-2019. During the August 6 city council meeting, Mayor Craig Patterson discussed budget with the council members. Patterson wanted to answer any of the council’s questions regarding the budget in anticipation of getting it passed at next month’s council meeting
