On Mar. 13, Pickens County Deputies responded to an assault at Oak Grove Road in Gordo.
Pickens County Sheriff David Abston said, “The victim stated she had been knocked in the head with a pistol by suspect Keith Driver. The suspect left the scene walking and was picked up by his brother in a black Toyota Camry. When Gordo City Police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect attempted to elude and wrecked the vehicle on County Road 33. The suspect then ran into the woods behind a house. The Pickens County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit was called in. The suspect was apprehended approximately 1000 meters into the woods in a water-filled ditch.”
This was the first capture for the canine unit, comprised of Beagles Daisy, Duke, and Bill. The dogs were trained by Sheriff Abston.
Marvin Keith Driver, of Gordo, was charged with Assault 2nd, Person Forbidden to Possess a Firearm, Attempt to Elude, Drug Paraphernalia Use/Possession, Open Container of Alcohol in Vehicle, and Reckless Endangerment. Mr. Driver is in the Pickens County Jail under a $18,600 bond.
