Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Many, many years ago I moved to Pickens County and fell in love with the people here - good, loving, honest, friendly people - the best in the world!
Now, over 60 years later, I continue to be reminded why I love this area so much.   We always hear about the bad things that happen, but I believe that good deeds need to be recognized.

Late one afternoon recently, I made a quick trip to the grocery store just as the store was closing.  Less than 30 minutes after returning home, my doorbell rang.  A young man stood at my door holding out my credit card!  I did not even realize I had dropped it!  He explained that he had stopped by the same grocery store to buy a drink from the drink machine and saw my credit card on the ground.  After seeing my name on the card, he called his aunt to see if she knew me.  She did!  She told him the road that I lived on and after stopping at a neighbor's house to ask for more directions, he located my home to return my card.  How grateful I am for this honest young man who made the effort to return something that had been lost.

This series of events were not by accident!  God put the right person at the right place at the right time!  Thank you Keenya Curry for being a man of integrity!
I am so proud to live in Pickens County!
