H.E.L.P., Inc., is applying to the Alabama Department of Transportation for Operational, Administration, Planning, and Capital assistance award under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Laws. This grant funding will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Pickens County.
The service is provided for the general public and currently operates Monday- Friday,8a.m. to 4p.m. All residents including wheel-chair users, must schedule 24 hours in advance. Fares are $1.00 per one-way trip within the county, $10.00 per round trip for medical trips to Tuscaloosa County. No Service or Fare Changes are planned for FY2023. This grant funding will provide federal financial assistance for Administration, Operational, Planning and Capital Expenses. Capital funding will be used to purchase 1 transit vehicle, 1 lap-top and 1 printer, fax, copier. A public hearing will be held on June 2, 2022, at 10:00 am at H.E.L.P., Inc.’s Office 190 William E Hill Dr. Carrollton, Alabama 35447 for public comment.
