Betty Brooks Carpenter Pratt

 Betty Brooks Carpenter Pratt, age 96, died  April 4, 2023, at her home in Carrollton, Alabama.  She was born January 4, 1927 in Reform, Alabama to the late James Wilburn Carpenter and Ola Brooks Keating Carpenter.  She was preceded in death by her husband J. Groce Pratt; sisters Loris Madison, Cara Mims and Sula Davis; granddaughter Emily Madison Pratt and grandson John Carter Pratt.
Survivors include daughters Anna Hester (Dexter) of Pickensville, Ala, Cara Chute (Earle), of Johnson City, Tenn. and sons Jack Pratt (Megan) of Carrollton, Ala. and George Pratt (Shannon) of Helena, Ala.  She is also survived by grandchildren Brook Fisher (Fred), Austin Chute (Katie), Rachel Adams (Sam), Jared Pratt (Jessica), Joel Pratt, Marianna Folds (Cory) and Lawson Pratt.  She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren with number nine due in August; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was an avid nature lover, bird watcher, and lover of jazz and the blues.  She was also a passionate follower of Crimson Tide football. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church and the last surviving member of Pickens County High School Class of 1946.  She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and laugher in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty made the unselfish decision to donate her body to UAB for education and medical research. At her request, no services will be held.
