Floyd “Pee Wee’ Spain, age 84, of Reform, AL passed away November 8, 2023 at his home. Funeral services were 2:00 pm Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Stansel Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Lucas officiating. Burial was held in Bethel Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin great-grandsons, Corbin Trace Condra and Nolan Case Condra; his siblings, Jeanette “Sis” O’Briant, Eugene Spain, Phillip Spain, Robert Lee Spain, J. W. Spain, Earl Spain, his twin brother, Boyd Spain and Louise Oglesby; half-brothers, Ralph House and Jack House and half-sister, Nellie Kabfliesh.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bobbie Jo Mullins Spain; two daughters, Ann Margaret Heritage (Glenn) of Reform and Suzanne Rector (Greg); sister, Mary Koon; grandchildren, Asia Criswell (Jason), Skyler Condra (Mary Catherine), Olivia Condra (Mark), Sophie Rector, Mary Catherine Townsend (Grant) and Christopher Heritage; great-grandchildren, Lydia Shirley, Brett Criswell, Kellen Shirley, Teagan Criswell, Willow Shirley, Lillie Blake Condra, Forest Condra, Merritt Townsend and Lucy Catherine Townsend and sisters-in-law, Faye Spain, Bobbie Jo Spain, Mary Lou Spain and Hazel Spain.
Pee Wee was born April 24, 1939 in Benevola, Alabama to the late William Preston Spain and Eula Winston Spain and graduated from Pickens County High School in 1958. He married the love of his life, Bobbie Jo Mullins and they started their family in Stansel, AL. Pee Wee was a faithful member of Stansel Baptist Church for 73 years. He worked at Westinghouse until it closed and later retired from McShan Lumber Company.
He was a collector of many things, loved his family, his John Deere tractor, Hank Williams, Sr. and never missed an Alabama Football game. Pee Wee loved people and making them laugh.
Pallbearers were Danny Spain, Daniel Oglesby, David Condra, Tyler Tuten, Ken Simpson and Randy Simpson.
Honorary Pallbearers were David Jennings and special friend, Rita Brown.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, Alabama Hospice and Paula McDaniel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, 1600 7th Avenue S, Birmingham, AL 35233-1785 in honor of his granddaughter, Sophie Grace Rector.
