On a rainy night in Winston County, Aliceville went into the Bulldogs home and came away with a 38-22 win to propel the Yellow Jackets into the Class 2A semifinals this Friday. It is the second time in three years that Aliceville has advanced to the semifinal round of the playoffs.
Addison struck first in the first quarter when Zayne Guthrie ran for an 8-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets woild answer, however, when Zavien Wilkins broke free for a 61-yard touchdown. The conversion attempt failed, as Elijah Barned fumbled the ball and the first quarter ended with Aliceville trailing the Bulldogs 8-6.
The Yellow Jackets would take the lead when quarterback Kavon McGraw hit the edge and took off down the sideline for a 43-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Aliceville later took advantage of a pass interference penalty and McGraw later hit Devontae Wright for a 7-yard touchdown, as Aliceville took an 18-8 lead into the halftime break.
