Dear Editor,
An Open Letter to Mr. Kenneth Lucas
Dear Sir,
With great respect, if there are any regrets necessary they should come from the entire city of Aliceville. During the past three years, since becoming a resident of this city, I have watched you sweat and shiver as you diligently placed our beloved American flag along our city’s main streets – many, many times working alone. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank you for your dedicated service to this project throughout the past many years, and truly regret your leaving although it is well deserved. So, in some of the words of George Jones whom I’m certain would agree: I wonder, Who’s going to fill your shoes? Who’s going to stand that tall? Who’s going to place those standards? On holidays, summer, winter, spring, and fall? Who’s going to stand up and be those volunteers to carry on your legacy for many, many more years.
Thank you,
Gene Price
Aliceville, Ala.
