The Aliceville Entertainment Complex, 210 Broad Street NE, will host two performances of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy As You Like It on Thursday, January 10. The show will be performed by actors from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF).
The first show, at 9:30 a.m. is exclusively for all high school juniors and seniors attending school, or being home schooled in Pickens County. The second, for the general public, will be at 7:00 p.m. Admission to both performances will be free.
Tickets to the 7 p.m. performance may be obtained in person or by phone at the Aliceville Museum (104 Broad Street, NE - 205-373-2363), or at the Aliceville Entertainment Complex box office after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The program, which is being sponsored by the Aliceville Museum and the Pickens County Arts Guild, is made possible by a grant from the Alabama Bicentennial Commission.
The Pickens County Arts Guild was established three years ago to bring quality entertainment to Pickens County. For example, funding from the Guild made the 2018 ASF performances in Pickens County possible. So it may continue its work, tax deductible donations to the Arts Guild in any amount are encouraged (but not required). You may make your donation at the theater on Thursday. A special reception with the ASF actors will be held for Arts Guild donors in the Events Room at the Aliceville Museum following the evening performance.
