The Aliceville City Council meeting on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 began with Mayor Marva Gipson calling the meeting to order with all five council members present.
The meeting began with Gipson stating that the city would not be giving employees a temporary pay increase from $600 to $1,000 and asked that the item be removed from the agenda.
“It’s not that we don’t want to give our employees $400, but it’s not in the budget at this time,” Gipson said. “I need a motion to remove this item from the agenda.”
Councilman Terrence Windham said the money for the $400 pay increase should come from the COVID-19 relief fund and that money has not been utilized.
