PA Boys pick up season sweep of South Choctaw

Rafe Brown (15) puts up a jumper during the second half

CARROLLTON - The Pickens Academy boys defeated South Choctaw on Thursday night for the second time this season, as the Pirates jumped out early and never trailed, winning 56-47. “We’ve only played about eight or nine games and everybody else has played 15 or more, so we’re still trying to find our stride and I think we’re getting better the more we play,” Pickens Academy Coach Jeremy Pate said. “I am proud of these boys because they get after it and they hustle. They’re playing more and more as a team each time we play." PA jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on a William Parker three-pointer, which led to the Pirates taking a 7-1 lead midway through the first quarter. South Choctaw pulled to within 8-5 before Chandler Box was fouled on a layup. Box missed the chance for a three-point play, but gave PA a 10-5 lead, which was the score after one quarter.
