CARROLLTON - The Carrollton Town Council, in a brief meeting on Feb. 4, agreed to switch the telephone system of the police department for a more expensive--but more efficient--system, at the recommendation of the police chief.
Police Chief Anthony Durrah said the town’s policemen currently use the Southern Linc system for about $168 a month, plus $45 extra for the phone used by Mayor Mickey Walker.
Durrah proposed the town switch to the FirstNet system (a division of AT&T).
Durrah said FirstNet would cost more, $327 a month (at least for the first year), but it allow the policemen to have unlimited data and increase the number of devices from four to nine.
