GORDO- Las Amigas Civic Organization is very active in the town of Gordo, Alabama. They award a senior girl with a $1000.00 scholarship every year and are willing to help the citizens of Gordo in any way they can. Las Amigas is Spanish for “the friend”. Las Amigas sponsors the book fair and spelling “B” at Gordo Elementary School. They give donations to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. They help a foster family at Christmas and have helped buy some of the Christmas lights in Gordo.
