Jason Moore
The Pickens Academy Board of Trustees, an independent private school located in Carrollton, Alabama, announced today the hiring of Jason Moore as its next Headmaster. Mr. Moore will succeed interim Headmaster Bobby Beasley and will begin fulfilling these duties May 1, 2023. Mr. Moore was unanimously recommended for the position by the Headmaster Search Committee after a careful search and interviews from an impressive pool of candidates. The search began on January 1, 2023.

Mr. Moore will embody and champion PA’s mission of offering a quality education in a well-disciplined Christian environment.”
Since his retirement from Shelton State Community College in 2021, Mr. Moore has been employed by the University of West Alabama as the Workforce Development Coordinator. Prior to his retirement, he served in various educational and administrative roles at Shelton State Community College, with his last position being the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development. While serving as Dean, he reported to the President of the college as the leader for workforce development related initiatives where his responsibilities included the overall operation of the divisions of Technical Services; Adult Education; Apprenticeships; Workforce Development; and Child Development. This role also required collaboration with employees of all levels of the college, providing leadership in the development of curriculum and programs of study, delivery of instruction, departmental budgeting, selecting/hiring employees, evaluating employee performance, and compliance with external accrediting agencies.
Moore holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State College and a Master of Science in Management/Human Resources from Troy University. He also has an Associate Degree in Machine and Tool Technology and Computerized Numerical Controls from Shelton State Community College.
Jason and his wife, Nisa, are both natives of Tuscaloosa, and are active members of Circlewood Baptist Church. Their two children, Noah and McKenzie, attended American Christian Academy. Noah is a graduate of Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. McKenzie is also a graduate of Shelton State and is currently attending the University of Alabama.
