Pickens Academy Lady Pirates Volleyball went into this week needing to win 2 area games to clench some home matches for the Area tournament. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Tuesday, Senior Night brought about a lot of emotions with 5 of their girl's last home match. With parents and fans there to cheer them. The Lady Pirates battled hard against Holy Spirit but lost in 3 with the following scores, 36-24, 25-9 and 25-22. With one Senior out with an injury it hurt the Pirates blocking game. Junior, Ella Craker had some strong Ace’s which helped and Senior, Mor- gan Shires had some superb digs, but they just weren’t strong enough to pull off a win against Holy Spirit. Thursday night, Pirate fans were hopeful to pull off a win on the road against South Lamar’s Lady Stallions.
