On December 13, 2024, Carrollton hosted Bob Sellers and Friend's Christmas Homecoming on the steps of the old Courthouse. Bob Sellers, Melvin Mordecai, and Allen Mark Russell shared their talents with a large crowd that gathered on the square. The Town of Carrollton gave the perfect backdrop for this event with all its beautiful Christmas lights and decorations shining bright. The weather was cold, and refreshments of Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider, and Little Debbie Cakes were served free of charge by the Carrollton Beautification Com- mittee. It was a wonderful night of celebration for people young and old who enjoyed the festive concert and decorations. People didn’t mind the cold as they were bundled up and enjoying the wonderful music that put everyone in a festive mood.“We know one of the singers, so that is why I came,” said Shirley Huff of Tuscaloosa. “This is my first Christmas out, “I think it is a wonderful thing,” said Gladys Nicely of Carrollton. “It is a blessing that we can have this on Christmas. This puts you in the Spirit of Christmas and is what the Good Lord intends us to do is celebrate Christmas in the Christmas spirit.”
“I think this is a wonderful testament for Pickens County in general that we do this,” said Emily Walters of Reform. “I think it is a wonderful thing each Christmas.”
“It’s an event that I look forward to every year,” said Ellie Stronge of Carrollton. “Each year, I always go ahead and mark my calendar. I think this is a good event to bring the community together and just celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus.”Mayor Mickey Walker was proud to have the talented singers on the Courthouse Square and did a great job putting it all together.
