Doris Hale Gilliam

Doris Hale Gilliam, age 91, entered heaven on December 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born January 4, 1933, in Aliceville, Alabama to the late D. E. “Dutch” Hale and Amanda Katherine McGee Hale. She was a 1951 graduate of Aliceville High School and attended Snead Junior College. She married the love of her life, Cleland Ray “Gig” Gilliam on April 26, 1952, in California where he was stationed in the Navy and they loved their time there making lifelong friends and great memories they enjoyed sharing. Being a mother was her greatest joy in life, and then being a grandmother and a great-grandmother, her family was blessed by one of the best. She had a servant heart and lived her strong faith in Jesus every day. She was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C. R. “Gig” Gilliam and sister, Kathryn Hale Mohl. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Boothe (Bobby), Nancy Williams (Charlie), Gay Steele (Martin), Laurie Moore (Eddie); sons, John Gilliam (Brenda), Dan Gilliam, Mark Gilliam (Alicia) and bonus son, Morgan Pippen; seventeen grandchildren, Heather Boothe, Shade Powell, Doug Gilliam (Ashli), Meg Shelton (Ricky), Daniel Gilliam (Mara), Michael West (Rachel), Katie Gilliam, Mandy Kinas (John), Caitlen Gustafson, Katherine Powell (Austin), Rebecca Gilliam (Scott Foster, fiancé), Mark Everett (Baleigh), Will Steele, Carey Steele (Terria), Zach Steele, Maleyah Powell, Cade Moore (Haleigh); twenty- seven great-grandchildren, Asher, Jackson, John David, Patton, Colton, Ali Claire, Molly Kate, Jameson, Rowan, Jenson, Asher G., Camden, Houston, Landon, Lucy, Alyce, Palmer, Oliver, James, John Mark, Joe, Jack, Sam, Elijah, Lucas, Kinsley and Caiden. A private family graveside service was held Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. A Celebration of Life service was held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Carrollton United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to Carrollton United Methodist Church, P. O.
