Gordo was one strike away from getting another shot at American Christian Academy and securing a spot in the state championships in Montgomery. All of that came crashing down when Prattville Christian’s Carolyn Carter hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Panthers a 6-5 win.

Prattville Christian, 7 Gordo, 0

The Lady Wave did not fare well in their regional opener against Prattville Christian Friday afternoon in Troy. The Lady Panthers got things started in the bottom of the second inning when Paisley Wilson singled on a 2-2 pitch count, giving Prattville Christian a 1-0 lead. The Lady Panthers then knocked in three runs in both the third and fifth innings for a 7-0 win.

Landyn McAnnally picked up the win for Pratt-
ville Christian, allowing zero runs on five hits, while striking out nine. Bethany Vintson took the loss for Gordo, allowing five runs on seven hits, while striking out two batters.

Lilly Sutton, Kaylee Quimby, Brianna Lang, Taylor Clegg, and Chloe Harville each led the Lady Wave with one hit apiece. Mckenzie Montgomery went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Panthers.

“We didn’t play really well that first game,” Kosloff said. “We didn’t play well defensively and had some base running blunders, but the girls knew if we got an opportunity to see Prattville Christian again, it was going to be completely different.”
