Dixie Nann Griffith, the only daughter of Andy Griffith, will be coming to Gordo’s Mayberry Sock Hop, April 21, from 7-10 p.m. in the Gordo Elementary School Auditorium. Ms. Griffith was gracious enough to talk with me via phone call last Thursday night, Mar. 29, from her home in Colorado.
Ms. Griffith is planning to dress and be “as 50s Poodle-skirt stylish as I can be. I think everybody should dress up,” she commented. “I am very much looking forward to participating in everything I possibly can.”
“I don’t know if I have ever been to Alabama,” she remarked. “I feel like I have, but I’m really looking forward to this trip.”
Ms. Griffith is the daughter of the late Andy Griffith, best known as Sheriff Andy Taylor on the sitcom “The Andy Griffith Show” and Ben Matlock in the legal series “Matlock”, and his first wife, Barbara Bray Edwards. She had one sibling, her older brother Sam, who passed away in 1996.
