Concerned Citizens ask for Aliceville Council’s Help with City Park

ALICEVILLE-The Aliceville City Council meeting was held February 23, 2022, at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Terrence Windham. After the invocation, the minutes were approved on a motion by Council- man Robert Wilder and a second by Councilman Chris Lewis.

Windham said the renovation of the kitchen and bathroom at City Hall will be finished on March 13, 2022. They are limiting the usage of the kitchen area because they don’t want anyone to get hurt.

Aliceville Council Bans Alcohol for City Park Rentals; Passes Resolution on Schools

At the Aliceville City Council meeting on May 23, unfinished business included an addition to the city’s Park Rental Agreement. At the council’s prior meeting, Mayor Marva Gipson wanted to add an amendment to the agreement which prohibits alcohol on site for rental events. Councilman Thomas Wilkins stated he wanted to have the city’s attorney, John Russell, make sure an amendment such as that would not infringe on the rights of citizens.

Aliceville Aiming for Hoops at City Park

After improvements this season at the Aliceville City Park, the city council is looking to go a bit further. At the previous council meeting on April 25, Councilman Thomas Wilkins mentioned he had been approached about getting a basketball goal and court at the park. Thinking it would be a good addition, research and steps have commenced to see if that request can be made into reality.
