PCHS Gives Up a Close One to South Lamar

The Pickens County Tornadoes traveled to Millport Friday night to take on the South Lamar Stallions in a matchup that potentially could determine the 1A, Region 6 championship.  The Tornadoes and Stallions battled it out in a hard-fought contest, but it was the Stallions coming away with a 20-15 region victory.

Pickens County got on the board first early in the second quarter with a six-yard run from Senior Jaccaurian Washington for a touchdown.  The Washington score capped a 60-yard drive.  Washington also accounted for the successful two-point conversion to give the Tornadoes an 8-0 lead with 9:33 to play before the halftime break.

South Lamar answered on their next possession with a 76-yard aerial connection for a touchdown.  After a successful two- point conversion, the score was tied 8-8 with 6:48 to play in the second quarter of action.
