Lady Tornadoes Fall to Hubbertville

Ke’Tanja Hall winds up to toss a pitch in the Lady Tornadoes 11-1 loss to Hubbertville.

Pickens County fell to Hubbertville 11-1 on Tuesday evening, as the Lions scored 10 unanswered runs, starting in the fourth inning.

Junior pitcher Ka’Tanja Hall limited Hubbertville to only one run in through four innings, as the Lions led 1-0 going into the fourth inning.

“This is her first year pitching,” Pickens County head coach Summer King said. “She’s been struggling on the mound this year and usually walks several, but this was her best game this year.”

Hall walked the first batter in the fourth inning, followed by her allowing a double to knock a run in. The Lady Tornadoes dropped a couple pop flies in the inning also, allowing runners to advance. Later in the fourth, the bases were loaded when Hubbertville hit a triple, sending three runners home.

Pickens County trailed 7-0 in the top of the sixth inning when the Lions scored three runs to make the score 10-0. DaLiyah Jones then made contact with a pitch in the bottom of the sixth, sending Lacey Latham home to make the score 10-1. Jones’ RBI kept the game from being ended by the 10-run rule. Hubbertville would score another run in the seventh inning to win 11-1.

Pickens County fell to 1-7 on the season with the loss. The Lady Tornadoes’ lone win of the year came against 5A Central-Tuscaloosa, a game Pickens County won 20-2.
