On Mar. 19, Pickens County Medical Center (PCMC) welcomed its new CEO and President, John O’Neil. Mr. O’Neil has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, serving as the CEO of St. Vincent’s hospital from 2009 to 2015 and most recently served as a consultant for UAB Health System. While at UAB, O’Neil assisted in developing and implementing strategic plans for rural hospitals across Alabama. Mr. O’Neil holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa and a Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University.
A reception was held in the front lobby of PCMC to officially announce Mr. O’Neil’s hire and welcome him to the facility. He said the first indication he was in the right place was when his first meeting led off with a prayer. “Healthcare, if done right,” he said, “is a ministry.”
As CEO of PCMC, he stated his role is to serve the needs of the community and the employees. He also stated he planned to add full-time employees for marketing the Medical Center.
