Pickens County Fellows
Pickens County Fellows will be hosting a monthly Health Talk at the Aliceville Public Library consisting of various health topics ranging from wellness to financial well-being.
The program is offered through the Pickens County Partnership, a partnership through the University of Alabama with the goal of working with Pickens County Medical Center to educate the community on health and well-being.
Journey Detox and Recovery, LLC, founded in 2012 at Clay County Hospital by CEO Lamar Ward and CFO Kathy Evans. The program is an inpatient medical detoxification and recovery facility where all phases of recovery are managed. The program's priority is to help patients detoxify their body without putting any other chemicals into the body, such as suboxone, a drug that is used to treat pain, as well as addiction to narcotic pain relievers.
Jeanette Filpi
Boa Vida Healthcare in coordination with the Pickens County Medical Center Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Jeanette Filpi to serve as CEO of PCMC beginning March 4th, 2019.
Ms. Filpi comes to us with a clinical as well as an administrative background, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Colorado State University, a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University.
Pickens County Medical Center is located in Carrollton.

Pickens County Medical Center is entering into an agreement to partner with Boa Vida Healthcare, which will allow the hospital to maintain current operations and provide additional services to the community. Last February, PCMC brought in John O’Neil, the former CEO of St. Vincent’s Hospital, to be the hospital’s CEO and help identify a strategic partner to lead the hospital in the future.

A lot of excitement has surrounded the new CEO of Pickens County Medical Center (PCMC) since he arrived. A new hope has found its way into the community surrounding the hospital, along with the excitement of PCMC being selected as one of only nine other communities for a first-time $2 million grant program.
Born in Peoria, Ill., John O’Neil graduated the University of Iowa in 1978. “I started in healthcare in 1980 and then, after I’d been in it about a year or so, I went back to get my master’s,” he said.
On behalf of the Health Resources Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), and Delta Regional Authority (DRA), The National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center) is excited to announce Pickens County Hospital has been selected to participate in the Delta Regional Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program.
Through the DRCHSD Program, the DRA and FORHP have partnered to support nine rural communities with an opportunity to receive intensive technical assistance (TA).

Four students of the Senior class of Pickens Academy collaborated and submitted a supplemental grant to the University of Alabama on behalf of the Pickens County Health Authority, specifically the Pickens County Medical Center (PCMC), for a $150,000 grant geared toward the hiring of a new administrator to fortify and rejuvenate the PCMC.

On Mar. 19, Pickens County Medical Center (PCMC) welcomed its new CEO and President, John O’Neil. Mr. O’Neil has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, serving as the CEO of St. Vincent’s hospital from 2009 to 2015 and most recently served as a consultant for UAB Health System. While at UAB, O’Neil assisted in developing and implementing strategic plans for rural hospitals across Alabama. Mr. O’Neil holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa and a Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University.
