On April 9, 2019, the Pickens County Commission held a brief meeting to vote on several items on their agenda.
The commissioners discussed the following items:
The Pickens County Commission voted to approve a $6,532.28 payment to Rumsey Environmental for dumpsters to be used in the Pickensville area flood debris cleanup. The committee heard from Cheryl Bowles, County Administrator, who said that she had spoken with the audit manager and believed it was acceptable to use these funds for this purpose. The committee then approved this payment.
The commission approved the hires of Jim Whitson and Jimmie Clark, as Operator/Driver III, at a rate of $12 per hour, pending drug test and physical results. The commission also approved a payment of $684,660.94 principal payment to First National Bank to pay off the dump truck loan from auction proceeds. The auction's proceeds in the amount of $406,193.02 were sent directly to West Alabama Bank to pay off motor grader loan for a clear title.
