The Pickens County Commission meeting on April 23rd was short and sweet, as usual, with the biggest change being that Representative Bobby Bain took over as commission chairman for Commissioner Mark Gray.

The commission began by discussing new business, where they approved the hire of Katherine Thomas as appraisal clerk, which is effective as of May 6th. Commissioner Drew Elmore made the motion to appoint Thomas, which was seconded by Jerry Fitch. The motion passed unanimously.

The next order of new business was to approve the purchase of a $15,000 server from deferred appraisal fund revenues. The commission also voted to amend the hospital/health sales tax fund budget to include an appropriation to the Pickens County Health Care Authority. It was also approved for Human Resources Accounting Tech Jennifer McCafferty to attend “Payroll Processes: Course I” in Auburn, Ala. on May 10th. The cost of the course is $150 and lodging will be $134.47. Commissioner Bobby Ingram made the motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Fitch, and the motion passed unanimously.
