The April 22, 2020 Aliceville City Council meeting was conducted through a conference call, as Mayor Marva Gipson mentioned at the prior meeting that it would be the last face-to-face meeting until the coronavirus subsides.
Mayor Gipson called the meeting to order with all council members present. Councilman Terrence Windham moved for the approval of the April 8, 2020 council meeting and the motion carried with all voting in favor of the approval of the minutes.
Under unfinished business, the council discussed the millage rate. City Clerk Dineki McCaa reported that the millage rate was changed for the City of Aliceville, effective in 1979, when it went from 10 mills to 23 mills.
Currently, Carrollton is at 26 mills, Gordo is at 15 mills, Old Memphis and Pickensville are each at 5 mills, and Reform is at 18.5 mills.
