Many Projects Near Completion in Carrollton

The Carrollton City Council meeting was held on February 9, 2023. After the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, the minutes were approved with a motion from Councilman Chuck McDaniel and a second from Councilman Sherman Mayhew. A motion was made by Councilman Phillip Trull, with a second from Councilman Mayhew, to pay the city’s bills, and it was approved to do so. The audit came in and was approved with a motion from Councilman Trull and a second from Councilman McDaniel.
Mayor Mickey Walker said an eight-year-old girl told him the sightseeing telescope by the courthouse took her quarter. He took it apart and fixed it. Now, the telescope on the square is working. Mayor Walker would like to thank her for bringing it to his attention. The telescope has been used 24,864 times, according to the counter inside it, and it averages 50 cents per day.
The city hired a new officer by the name of John William Couch. Officer Couch is a former employee of the sheriff’s department and has already started his new job for the Carrollton Police Department.
