Carrollton Council: Aiming to improve the community

The Carrollton City Council met on Thursday, May 2nd to discuss several items on their agenda. Mayor Mickey Walker opened the meeting in prayer. The first order of business that Walker brought up to the committee was to appoint a member to the Board of Equalization.

Ultimately, the council decided to appoint David Stokes.

Carrollton Council: City Hall renovations almost complete

The April 4th Carrollton City Council meeting was held at the Carrollton Police Department rather than city hall, due to unfinished remodeling at the normal meeting place.

Mayor Mickey Walker mentioned that the renovations to the Carrollton City Hall were almost complete, with everything set to go except some work on the windows. Walker said he fully expects the staff to be moved back into City Hall by the upcoming May council meeting.

Mayor: ‘Fuel tax could be good thing for Carrollton’

The Carrollton council began on Thursday, March 7th by discussing a surplus of an old 1-ton pickup truck. Mayor Mickey Walker said he would like for the city to either trade or sell the pickup. Walker said there was also a surplus on an old Army fifth-wheel truck that the council needed to make a motion to trade or sell.

Carrollton Council Passes Budget, Continues Improvements

Budgets are the topic of this month as local towns, cities, and boards prepare for the new fiscal year. Carrollton is no exception.

After some deliberation, members of the Carrollton Town Council voted to give a five percent raise to the town’s department heads and authorized Mayor Mickey Walker to handle other raises as he sees fit. “You earn it, I’ll give it to you,” said Walker.
