Citizens of Pickens County Will Now Vote on Permanent Funding for Pickens EMS

Governor Kay Ivey signed into law on April 10, 2025, the bill that state and county offi- cials have been working on to allow the citizens of Pickens County to vote on whether they want to pay a $10 fee on their license plate re- newals to be used to provide funding for the newly formed Pickens Emergency Management Service in the county. “We want to thank Governor Ivey for signing Act 2015-118 into law,” said Representative Ron Bolton. “The act allows residents of Pickens County to vote to approve or disapprove a $10 fee on vehicle license plates upon issuance of renewal.
