According to ALDOT, the 82 bypass in Gordo will be completed in late fall of 2026. After they finish the bypass, the bridge that is one-half mile west of Immanuel Baptist Church in Gordo will be replaced. They will temporarily have two-way traffic on the brand-new bridge while the old one is under construction.

Another project that ALDOT is going to be working on in 2026 is on Highway 82 going from Reform to Colum- bus. That stretch of the highway is in terrible shape. The plan is to add 2 inches of pavement from approximately mile marker 5 to mile marker 10 in the spring or summer of 2026. In the summer of 2027,  they are planning to add 2 inches of asphalt from mile marker 0 to mile marker 5. This should take care of the road from the state line to McShan by the end of 2027. As of now, the plan is to place an additional 2 inches in the following 2 years in the same pattern. Overall, there will be 4 inches of asphalt added to the highway when construction is complete.
