Aliceville Rotary Welcomes Fulbright Scholar Speaker

At their meeting on Mar. 13, the Aliceville Rotary Club welcomed Dr. Fanbin Zeng, the Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Zeng was brought by the Rotary’s former president and member, Connie Marine, International Programs Coordinator at the University of West Alabama, located in Livingston, Ala. This was at the request of Rotary program chairperson of the day, Kathy Marine.  

To be selected as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar is a prestigious honor. Nine hundred foreign scholars from over 150 countries are chosen to conduct postdoctoral research at United States institutions for one year. Dr. Zeng is the first generation in his family to attend college and is now an associate professor in the College of Journalism and Communication at his home university, Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. Jinan is one of China’s oldest universities.
