Aliceville entered their region opener trying to put the loss to Gordo behind them, however, the Yellow Jackets came out a bit sloppy, as a high snap sailed over punter and wide receiver Matthew Clark’s head in the first quarter. Luckily, the punter is also a track star and took the muffed punt 67 yards to the house while hurdling a Tarrant defender along the way for a 6-0 lead.

“The hurdles came into real effect,” Aliceville head coach Melvin Pete said. “We think sometimes we have a lot of athletes all over the field, so it’s not as shocking to me as some things. Matthew is an exceptional athlete so a lot of the things he can do doesn’t really surprise me.”

On the Yellow Jackets next posession, a dropped lateral was picked up by a Wildcat defender who raced to the end zone for a 6-6 lead as the Aliceville receiver stopped, thinking the pass was incomplete.
