The Pickens County Board of Education made changes to their 2020-2021 school calendar for the second time in July last week, moving the start date for schools back yet another week.
This came on the heels of Governor Kay Ivey extending the mask order and requiring students to wear face masks when starting back to school.
Under the latest school calendar, teacher work days will be on August 17-19, while virtual students will begin classes on August 20-21. Traditional and hybrid students that are on schedule A will begin classes on Wednesday, August 26 and students who are on schedule B will begin classes on Thursday, August 27. Fridays will remain virtual learning days for all students.
