Aliceville hangs on for 39-38 win over Red Bay

Aliceville defenders try and stop Red Bay’s Jaylen Vinson (10) on a drive to the basket

ALICEVILLE - Aliceville was able to defeat the Red Bay Tigers 39-38 on Friday night in a thrilling finish. With the Yellow Jackets leading 38-36, Ty Williams went to the line with nine seconds left and converted one-of-two three throws to go ahead 39-36. The Tigers rebounded the second miss and headed up the floor with roughly seven seconds left. Aliceville gave Red Bay the layup and Landon Glover took what the defense gave him. The buzzer sounded as the ball went through the net. The only problem was that Red Bay needed a three to send the game to overtime and that’s how it ended with Aliceville escaping with a 39-38 win over a 2020 Final Four team. The Tigers defeated the Jackets 50-37 when the two teams met earlier this month.
