Bessie “Bess” Sutton McCool Wilkins, 86, of Kennedy, formerly of Reform, passed away January 28, 2021 at her residence. Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Graham Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Tim Meherg and Rev. John Wesley Burkhalter officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold K. Wilkins; her son, Frank McCool; her parents; brothers, J. W., Andrew, Rayford, Louis and Hubert Sutton and sisters, Lucy Shields, Malynda Sutton and Alice Marlowe.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Gottschalk (Dan) and Karen Holsonback (Mike); son, Wade McCool; daughter-in-law, Jana McCool; sister, Frances McDaniel (Thomas); nine grandchildren, Shana, Dana, Angela, Tiffany, Kacy, Karoline, Michael, Catherine and Jason; thirteen great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Lisa Aldridge and her dog, Nikki.
Bess was born November 3, 1934 in Carrollton, Alabama to the late John A. Sutton and Vera Strickland Sutton. She was a member of Reform First Baptist Church and retired in 2011 from Pickens County Medical Center with 25 years of service as a LPN. After retirement she worked as a volunteer at Pickens Baptist Center for several years.
Pallbearers were Dan Gottchalk, Mike Holsonback, Michael Holsonback, Samuel Kennedy, Jason Hill and Kody Anthony.
Honorary Pallbearers were former employees of Pickens County Medical Center, friends of the Baptist Center and her Sunday School Class at Reform First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or your favorite charity.
