Aliceville Rotary undergoes board changes

Jed Smart speaks as the new President of Aliceville Rotary

ALICEVILLE - The June 16, 2021 Aliceville Rotary meeting saw multiple changes in its board, as former two-term President Caleb Marine passed the gavel to Jed Smart. It was also Past President Tim Alexander and Social Media Director Brian Hamilton’s last meeting. Treasurer Lauren Strawn was chosen to be President Elect to take over as president for the 2022-23 year.

PCMC welcomes new detox and recovery program

Journey Detox and Recovery, LLC, founded in 2012 at Clay County Hospital by CEO Lamar Ward and CFO Kathy Evans. The program is an inpatient medical detoxification and recovery facility where all phases of recovery are managed. The program's priority is to help patients detoxify their body without putting any other chemicals into the body, such as suboxone, a drug that is used to treat pain, as well as addiction to narcotic pain relievers.

Aliceville Rotary Welcomes Fulbright Scholar Speaker


The Aliceville Rotary Club heard from speaker Dr. Fanbin Zeng at their meeting Mar. 13. Dr. Zeng is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Pictured from left, Connie Marine, Kathy Marine, Dr. Fanbin Zeng, and Vickie Xu, UWA International Administrator.
At their meeting on Mar. 13, the Aliceville Rotary Club welcomed Dr. Fanbin Zeng, the Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Zeng was brought by the Rotary’s former president and member, Connie Marine, International Programs Coordinator at the University of West Alabama, located in Livingston, Ala. This was at the request of Rotary program chairperson of the day, Kathy Marine.
