Pickens County Medical Center is entering into an agreement to partner with Boa Vida Healthcare, which will allow the hospital to maintain current operations and provide additional services to the community. Last February, PCMC brought in John O’Neil, the former CEO of St. Vincent’s Hospital, to be the hospital’s CEO and help identify a strategic partner to lead the hospital in the future.
“John was brought on board to help steer us through the Delta Regional grant,” PCMC hospital board chairman Shawn McDaniel said. “Pickens County Medical Center was one of the ten hospitals from the southeast that was chosen, and the only one in Alabama.”
O’Neil has worked with the PCMC board of directors for the last year to develop a partnership that would bring sustainability for the organization. With the help of the county commissioners, the PCMC board members and O’Neil, the Medical Center was able to partner with Boa Vida Healthcare.
“As the board chair, I am grateful for John O’Neil and his leadership over the past year. I’m thankful for the hospital board and the support of the county commission, as well as the friends of the hospital,” McDaniel said.
